This building was named after Sultan Abdul Samad of Selangor who reigned from 1857 to 1898. It was officially opened in April 1897 by Sir Frank Swettenham and served as a Government Administrative Building, then the High Court and Supreme Court in 1972. The Moorish design building is now occupied by the Ministry of Information, Communications Culture. It's affectionately known as the “Big Ben” of Malaysia.
